What a founding place is

The honest version, for anyone deciding today.

Moed opens in London in spring 2027. A founding place is £49 once, against the £19 a month the service will cost when it opens. It holds you one of the first 500 seats, it gives you a founding number that stays yours, and it is refundable in full, any time, until the doors open.

You are buying a place, not an empty app

This is the fair question, and the answer is simple: today there is no one to meet, because Moed has not opened. What you are buying is your seat in the first wave, at the price the first wave pays. When we open, you are already in, and you are in ahead of everyone who signs up later.

We open when the first 500 places are taken, not before. That is deliberate. A dating service with twenty people in it is a bad evening for all twenty. The five hundred founding members are each other's first evenings, which is exactly why the number is capped and why we wait until it is full.

What the £49 covers

  • Your first twelve months of Moed Core, which cost £228 at the standard rate of £19 a month. You pay £49 once. You save £179.
  • Your £19 a month kept for as long as your membership runs, whatever the price becomes for everyone else.
  • One of the 500 founding places in London, ahead of the public opening.
  • First in line when the first appointments are offered.
  • A founding number, yours permanently, shown on your card.
  • Premium features from day one, including hiding your age.
  • An invitation to say which venues we should add to the city.

One payment. Nothing renews on its own. After the first twelve months you continue at £19 a month, the founding rate, and only if you decide to. We tell you the price before you pay it, every time.

Your number

Numbers are handed out in the order places are taken: No. 1, No. 2, and so on to No. 500. Your number is set the moment your payment lands, it is shown on your profile, and it does not change. It is the one thing in the service that cannot be bought later at any price.

Your money stays yours until we open

Every founding payment is held in full. Ask for it back at any time before the first London wave opens, for any reason, and we return the whole £49 to your card, normally within five working days. If we have not opened within twelve months of your payment, we refund you in full without being asked. Details are in our refund policy.

What happens between now and spring 2027

You build your profile when it suits you, and you pass the live selfie check that every member passes, so the people you eventually meet are the people in the photographs. We write to you as the city fills: venues we have added, how many places are left, and the date the first wave is confirmed. Then we start proposing evenings.

What Moed actually does

Moed is a London dating service measured in travel time, not distance. You say where you start from and how far you would really go. When two people say yes to each other, Moed does the part everyone puts off: it finds a place both of you can reach, holds a table, and proposes an hour. Messaging between matched members is included in membership, there are no chat credits and nothing is charged per message.

One thing to be clear about: Moed finds and holds the table, it does not pay the bill. Food and drink on a date are paid by the members themselves, directly to the venue, as on any other date.

The small print worth knowing

Members must be 18 or over. Moed opens in London first. Payments are taken by Stripe on behalf of MOED LTD, company number 17441845, and we never see or store your card number. The full terms are at moed.uk/terms, and what is and is not allowed is at moed.uk/acceptable-use.

Take a founding place, £49

You make your account first, then pay, so your place is held against your own profile from the start. Two minutes.
